Job description
Head of People and Inclusion (0181)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week (1 FTE). Whilst this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we welcome applications from candidates seeking part-time or other flexible working arrangements.
Salary: £63,000 - £67,000
Location: Hybrid, anchored to one of the Carers Trust offices (London, Cardiff, Glasgow) 1 day a week.
As Carers Trust continues to deliver its strategy and ambitions for the future, this is an exciting opportunity to shape how we support, develop and empower our people.
The Head of People and Inclusion will play a central role in creating an organisation where people feel valued, supported and able to thrive. You'll lead our People function, working closely with managers and leaders across the organisation to ensure our people policies, practices and culture enable colleagues to do their best work.
A key part of the role will be helping us turn our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion into meaningful action. Working collaboratively across Carers Trust, you'll help embed inclusive approaches in how we lead, make decisions, work together and support our people, creating an environment where everyone can belong and contribute.
You'll also support the continued development of the People function, embracing effective digital ways of working and exploring how technology, including AI, can enhance HR processes and the employee experience. We're looking for someone who is curious, pragmatic and keen to find better ways of doing things.
Above all, you'll help us build a culture where people can thrive and, in turn, deliver the greatest possible impact for carers.
As the postholder you will:
- Develop and deliver a People and Inclusion Strategy aligned with Carers Trust's organisational goals and values.
- Drive the adoption of digital HR solutions and AI-enabled tools to streamline processes, enhance data-driven decision-making, and improve employee experience.
- Champion inclusive leadership and embed EDIB principles into policies, processes, and decision-making.

We're building a fair world for carers.
At some point in our lives, most of us will care for someone important to us – a parent, partner, child, friend or family member. One day, we may need that care ourselves.
At least six million people in the UK are currently caring, unpaid, for a friend or family member. Many juggle countless unseen tasks each day – from personal care to cooking, managing medication, attending appointments, helping with finances and being there when things feel overwhelming.
Caring is what holds families and communities together. It can be rewarding, but it can also come at a high cost. Too often, carers are left to carry the emotional, physical and financial strain alone, without the support they need to keep going. For many carers, it feels like everything is stacked against them.
We don't want it to be that way. We make it possible for carers to live a full life alongside their caring role. We're a national charity reaching more than one million carers of all ages and backgrounds. We provide practical, emotional and financial support through our local services across the UK – and we're there, where and when carers need us.
Support close to home matters. It means carers can turn to a local organisation that understands their area and their needs. It also creates spaces for local carers to connect with others going through similar experiences.
We believe every carer should find the right support, close to home. No carer should be pushed to crisis point by their caring role. And all carers deserve the same opportunities as everyone else. We won't stop until every carer is seen, heard, valued and supported.
Join us.
